UPDATED #rugbyunited FOLLOWER LEAGUE TABLES!

Over the last 12 months, for a bit of fun, we’ve collated league tables for our #rugbyunited accounts! Since the start of the Rugby Word Cup 2015 up to the 10th November, our #rugbyunited accounts grew by a staggering 35,000 followers meaning #rugbyunited now have over 385,000 across the world!

A big thanks firstly to all our followers who enjoy #rugbyunited and interact with our club and country accounts, and secondly, a big thanks to all the guys ‘n gals who run these accounts! They all volunteer and take up their spare time to not only bring you news about your club and countries, but often their views and opinions.

And last but not least, a big thank you to Matt (@Sports_Rsa) who runs @rugbyRSA, @rugbyMrebels, @rugbySharks_ and @rugbyChiefs1 who takes time out to go through all the accounts and adds up the numbers – it’s a big task, thanks Matt, its much appreciated!

Top 20 International Accounts!

The top two stay the same, but Scotland jump ahead of Ireland and now Scotland are just 800 followers behind Wales, and attracted the most followers of all accounts in the last period! Well done @rugbySCO!

Aviva Premiership

The West County rivalry that Gloucester and Bath have holds true on Twitter too, the previous gap of 147 followers now narrowed to just 30! Can Bath overtake Gloucester and take top spot before the next table is out?!?

Tigers, Quins and Sarries all maintain their 3rd, 4th and 5th spots, as Saints (now 6th) jump ahead of Worcester Warriors who drop to 7th. Sale Sharks move up to 8th at the expense of London Irish now in 9th, Wasps, Exeter Chiefs and Newcastle Falcons all remain in 10th, 11th and 12th.

Guinness Pro12

Last time out, the Pro12 had no changes, so its interesting this time to see some movement. Munster and Edinburgh stay 1st and 2nd, Glasgow Warriors and Newport Gwent Dragons switch places, with the Warriors now in 3rd. In Ireland, Leinster and Ulster switch places too, Leinster taking 5th and Ulster dropping to 6th.

In the second half of the table, there’s no movement for Ospreys, Cardiff Blues, Llanelli Scarlets, Connacht, Treviso or Zebre, although with a great new manager recently taking over Ospreys, I’d imagine they’ll break in to the top 6 next time out – at the expense of who I wonder?

Selected French Domestic Clubs

Firstly, a big shout out to Pascal who runs @rugbyFRA for #rugbyunited who in the last 2 months has doubled the amount of French clubs we represent from 7 to 14 – its great to see #rugbyunited expanding and Pascal doing a great job recruiting a number of new account managers to take on these new accounts!

The previous 7 accounts we had all remain in their positions, it’s the bottom 7 that look interesting with literally only a handful of followers difference! Toulon maintains its significant lead at the top as Toulons global popularity is reflected on twitter, and in no small part due to its excellent Account Manager, Larissa!

No change in the Top14, although Toulon are challenging in to the Global Top 10 and currently sat in 11th!!

Super Rugby 15

Lots of changes in the Super15 this time out, Waratahs losing their top spot to Cheetahs who have grown massively over the period! Hurricanes remain in 3rd place, Sharks jump to 4th as Brumbies drop to 5th. Highlands climb from 8th to 6th, Crusaders dropping from 4th to 7th which they’ll be disappointed with! Chiefs rise a place to 8th as Auckland Blues tumble from 7th to 9th but just 14 followers behind the Chiefs…. Stomers retain 10th, Bulls and Lions switch places in 11th and 12th, and the bottom three, Reds, Rebels and The Force all remain unchanged!

Worth noting that there is only 600 followers difference between 3rd and 13th with it all very tight in mid table!

It’s the close season in the Southern Hemisphere, so can’t imagine they’ll be much change next time out!

Top 10 Global, Club or Country Accounts!

Here’s the ultimate follower league table – regardless of club or country, here’s the top 10 followed #rugbyunited accounts!

Previously, we had four club sides in the top 10, but Waratahs have dropped out leaving only Munster and Edinburgh from the Pro12 and Cheetahs from Super15. There’s still no Aviva Premiership representation, in the top 10, and still circa 500 followers behind Toulon who sit in 15th!

As mentioned earlier, Scotland and Ireland have switched places, England and Wales retaining 1st and 2nd. New Zealand rise a place and have had terrific growth this time out, France have gained two places and Munster, still are most popular club account, have dropped two places.

Cheetahs go from 10th to 8th, and Australia have jumped from 14th to 9th showing their good RWC form and ran by Sean (@MrRugbyWorldCup) who does a fantastic job! Edinburgh just about retain their top 10 status, having dropped from 7th in the previous table.

Pushing to get in the top 10, Argentina lead the way, ran by the effervescent Zeke, is a brand new entry in at 11th. Canada remain in 12th, Waratahs out the top10 to 13th, and Glasgow in at 14th complete the strong showing all round in Scotland. Toulon drop from 11th last time to 15th – just about hanging on in there!

  1. England – @rugbyENG – 19800
  2. Wales – @rugbyWAL – 12000
  3. Scotland – @rugbySCO – 11200
  4. Ireland – @rugbyIRE – 10000
  5. New Zealand – @rugbyNZ_ – 7687

  8. Cheetahs – @rugbycheetahs – 5202

15. Toulon – @rugbytoulon_ – 4221

Outside the above, along with the new French accounts, @rugbyrichmond and Colombian account, @rugbyCOL_ joined the #rugbyunited network this month. Louise running @rugbywomen_ does an amazing job, as does Rachel with @rugbyUTDparents and Steve with @letsGROWrugby who all bring over 16,000 followers between them. @rugbybaabaas, @rubgyTeamGB (to cover the Rio Olympics 2016) and @rugbyLions17 (covered Australia in ’13, getting ready for NZ17!) attract over 5,000 followers between them.

There are way too many people who are worth a mention, but there are now over 200 people involved in #rugbyunited, running over 130 accounts and various projects such as our Trivia Crack channel (see http://www.triviacrack.com) our recent #rugbypass vidoes, new web site etc, so thanks to all the dedicated people who make #rugbyunited what it is today!!
