Well after the success of #rugbyfair it seemed rude not to go to the most famous rugby pub in the world, The Cabbage Patch in Twickenham and ask them whether we could host a Christmas Party on 6th December. Stuart the boss jumped at the chance!
So then I had the task of laying on some entertainment for you lucky lovely people! I got in touch with Harlequins Amateurs to see if they could put on an exhibition game for us. Well we are #rugbyunited, so it seems natural to lay on a rugby game. Next, who against? The Cabbage Patch Select XV of course! Referee? I asked a world famous referee whether he could officiate and he will if he is in the vicinity, it is European Championship weekend, so we won’t know until close to the game. I negotiated a cut price entry to the party for the players with a hot meal. For everyone else I have negotiated a free welcome drink and a cold buffet, entertainment by a terrific 6 piece band called “Disco Disco”. Trust me, they are great! We should have some very exciting and famous guests! I can’t divulge who as it is a work in progress! I am also hopeful of another surprise act which will be guarnteed to leave you speechless!
Other than, I hope plenty of Harlequins supporters coming, I hope our Dublin based friends, Leinster supporters will be at a loose end and find this event a great excuse to meet their opposing supporters for the game at Quins the following day and have a joint Craic! We are, of course, #rugbyunited!
This party is going to be held in the newly opened live music function room next to the pub. You can rock up when you want and use the pub for some drinks pre-party. You can come to Richmond College, a short walk from the pub and watch the game, which starts at a traditional Saturday 3pm! We plan to take a leasurely stroll back to the pub with our names on the guest list and then it’t party time! We plan to party on until pub closing.
Well what have we got to entice you other than the above? How about a raffle prize of two tickets to the 6 Nations game at Twickenham between England v Italy on 14th February? Any rugby fan’s dream of a great Valentines Day treat! How about a fully signed Harlequins Shirt, a signed Wasps shirt, an England shirt signed by the Harlequins England Internationals? A Will Carling and Craig Doyle signed rugbyball and a lot more rugby stash?
Tickets are available from Stu at the Cabbage Patch, please see the attached poster to find contact details. No ticket, no entry I’m afraid, it’s strictly entry by guest list and a limited capacity. I would therefore suggest early booking to avoid disappointment.
How much is this costing and where are the proceeds going? The price is only £20 per person and proceeds are going the Forces Support and Rugby for Heroes! Two terrific charities I hope you agree!
I look forward to welcoming you on 6th December. It should be a cracker! Pardon the pun!
